Choir Boy Review - Stratford East

Choir Boy Review - Stratford East

Heartwarming, moving and beautifully told

Choir Boy

⭐⭐⭐⭐

What's it about

A coming-of-age story set at the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys, where a group of students navigate spirituality, sexuality, race, identity and brotherhood.

What we loved

A superb cast of seven delivers a tight, cohesive performance. The play assembles a group of talented young actors who draw you in so you genuinely care about what happens to these boys. Terique Jarrett brings charm and charisma to talented singer Pharus. Soul-stirring a cappella gospel hymns and spirituals are woven seamlessly throughout. The production strikes a perfect balance of warmth, emotion and humour, all supported by simple, effective staging and a well-crafted, thoughtful script.

Anything we'd change

Not really—this is a tight, beautifully performed production.
